K-type Thermocouple Introduction:

  • Lorentzzi® K-type thermocouples are the most commonly used temperature sensors in heating temperature control systems. Its temperature measurement range is 0-400℃ (32-752℉), which can meet the temperature detection needs in most occasions.
  • This thermocouple can be used with our PID temperature controllers and solid state relays to achieve precise control of temperature.
  • The diameter of our K-type thermocouple detection tube is 5.0 mm, and the mounting screw is M8 thread. There are 5 sizes to choose from, as shown in the figure below:

How to choose the right type K thermocouple?

There are 6 steps to selecting the right type K thermocouple.

  1. Understanding the measurement temperature range: You need to know the temperature range you want to measure. Typically, a type K thermocouple has a measurement temperature range of -270°C to 1260°C. If you require more precise temperature measurements, you can try using a resistance temperature detector (RTD), such as the PT100 or PT1000. Generally, Type K thermocouples are sufficient for most applications.
  2. Confirm the shape of the temperature probe: Type K thermocouples can be divided into tubular, threaded, and ring types. Check your equipment to see which type is more suitable for use.
  3. Determine probe parameters: For probe type, ensure that tube length and diameter meet usage requirements; for ring probes, ensure that ring diameter is suitable for fixing; for threaded probes, ensure that tooth pitch and thread length are suitable for use.
  4. Determining cable length: Cable length is another important factor to consider. A cable that is too short will cause many problems. If the cable length needs to be extended, it must be a temperature-compensated type. Using a regular cable will affect the temperature measurement effect.、
  5. Terminal blocks: Check if terminal blocks are needed. Thermocouples with the correct fork-shaped terminals can speed up installation and make them easier for users to use.
