What is a single phase solid state relay?

A single-phase solid-state relay (SSR) is a semiconductor-based switch, using either a thyristor(AC SSR) or MOSFET(DC SSR), that uses a 3-32 VDC or 70-280 VAC control signal to turn the load on and off. It has no moving parts and therefore has a service life of at least 10 years under normal operating conditions.

Single-phase solid-state relays have the advantages of fast switching time (usually milliseconds), no sparks when closed, and no noise. The only disadvantage is it can generate a lot of heat during the long operation, thus we should use it with a suitable heat radiator to avoid overheating.

Single-phase solid-state relays are mainly used in single-phase temperature control systems and can be used with ПИД-регуляторы температуры to control heating elements. Typical applications include industrial automation control, such as motor control, solenoid valve control, lighting control, constant temperature control systems (such as furnaces, ovens, etc.), packaging machines, plastic manufacturing machines, etc.
